FAQs

Questions people ask before their first practice test

Plain answers about the practice questions, the scoring and how to use a study block properly. Nothing here replaces the official FSBPT candidate handbook.

01

Getting started

Do I need an account to start practising?

No. The free practice test opens straight in your browser — no login, no card. Create an account only if you want to save sessions and pick up where you left off.

What does the practice material cover?

Questions are organised around the FSBPT content outline — musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, cardiopulmonary, other systems, and non-systems — so your results map back to the same domains the exam reports on.

Where should I begin if I have not studied yet?

Take the free NPTE practice test first. It tells you where you actually are before you build a plan, which is far more useful than guessing at a weak area.

02

Questions & scoring

How closely do the practice questions match the real exam?

Same format as the exam: single-best-answer multiple choice with four options, under a timer, no notes. Stems move across the range you will see on test day, from straight recall to full clinical-reasoning case vignettes.

Do I get a rationale for every answer?

Every question explains why the right answer is right and, more usefully, why each distractor is wrong. That second half is where most of the learning happens.

Can I review a timed set once it is finished?

Yes. When the timer stops you can walk back through every item — your answer, the correct one, the rationale — and read the breakdown by content area.

Why do two similar questions have different “best” answers?

Because the item is testing the best answer for that specific patient, not the only true statement. Read the age, the setting, the stage of care and the precautions — two options can be defensible and only one wins on safety or sequence.

03

Study strategy

Should I read the study guide or take a test first?

Read the guide first if the content still feels unfamiliar; test first if it feels familiar. Use the study guide for structure and the practice questions for feedback — they do different jobs.

How much should I do in one sitting?

Keep it shorter than feels comfortable. A timed set followed by a full review — while the reasoning is still fresh — is worth more than a long untimed marathon with no review at the end.

One content area keeps dragging my score down. What now?

Stop adding volume and start reading rationales inside that area. Re-read the matching guide section, rebuild the rule underneath the misses, then re-test only that domain until the pattern breaks.

04

Content & data

Who writes and reviews the questions?

Items are written and reviewed against the current FSBPT content outline, and corrections run through our editorial policy. If an item cannot be defended against the outline, it is rewritten or retired.

I think a question is wrong. How do I report it?

Use the contact form and tell us the question, the answer you chose and what you think is off. Reported items are reviewed ahead of everything else in the queue.

What happens to my results and my email address?

Your results stay tied to your session. The privacy policy explains what is stored and why, and the terms of service covers everything else.

Can I use the site on a phone or tablet?

Yes — the question bank, timed sets and reviews all work in a mobile browser with no app to install. Controls are keyboard-reachable and labelled for screen readers.
